Hello,
We are Cowboyrags! We are a registered cattery with TICA. Our three parent cats are both CFA and TICA registered with complete pedigrees going back 5 generations without any "gaps" in breeding! The line of ragdolls we breed stems from the original line of ragdoll cat derived from Ann Baker.
Ann Baker started the Ragdoll breed in the early 1960's. She bred these cats for their "ragdoll" like disposition. When you gather one of these beasts up in your arms they tend to flop like a "ragdoll"! As well the breed is very adorable, gentle, affectionate and personable!! They are generally not a one person animal. They will quickly take to strangers as they do their owners. Ragdolls are a very large (10-25 pound) breed of cat with medium to long hair getting short and very uniform around the head and neck areas. They have very soft fur with bushy tails. Ragdolls require very little grooming. Due to their gentle disposition ragdolls are strickly indoor cats! Our breeding cats come from Dave and Georgeann Chambers of Ragnarok Cattery in Southern California. We chose this cattery as they have kept the original lines of Ragdoll Cats going for nearly 30 years. They breed for genetic purity and diversity. These are qualities that keep the Ragdoll Cat lines going in good health and show quality for generations to come.
My name is Joel Maertens. I am a registered pharmacist and have been compounding for and treating animals for the better part of 20 years. Our cats get the very best of medical care and love!! I know medicine and I know animals. My wife Emma and myself operate a very small cattery in Lander, Wyoming. Our kittens are given the run of the house at a very young age. They interact with each other and different people all day long. They are very tame and loving at the time they find homes at the age of 12 weeks!! We sell our kittens at the age of 12 weeks as at that time they have had their first two rounds of shots and have been wormed. We want the new owners to have healthy, potty trained and well adjusted kittens used to being loved!!! As well ragdolls mature quite slowly. They are born pure white and get their colors only after a couple short weeks. They darken and mature for the first two to three years of their lives.
We have only one male breeding cat named Timber. He poses proudly for you in a picture at the top of this page. His color is seal point. We have two female breeding cats named Snowball and Sonja. Snowball's color is blue point mitted. While Sonja is seal bicolor. While ragdolls come in a wide variety of colors our breeding strives to capture the darker colored animals. Most of our kittens are seal point, seal point mitted, blue point and blue point mitted.
Pointed ragdolls concentrate their known point color in the cooler temperature areas of the body. These areas are the face, ears, legs, and tail. Mitted cats have white mittens on all four legs. Seal coloring is medium to very dark brown. Blue coloring is medium grey-blue to very dark grey-blue. The non pointed areas of the body may have different uniform colors ranging from white to cream or various shades of lighter brown.
Bicolor cats have the prospective seal or blue coloring presented as a "mask" that surrounds the eyes and ears. They have white to cream colored fur around their nose, mouth, legs and chest. Their tails are respective of either seal or blue. Their bodies are varied colorations of seal or blue as well that may present itself as a "saddle" of colors extending down a generous portion of the hind legs.
